The charity launched a new initiative to raise funds for the life saving helicopter, when they announced a textile recycling scheme. The Julie Rose stadium in Ashford is one of the first in the county to house a Kent Air Ambulance branded recycling bin. Sittingbourne based L W Sait & Sons who are partnering the charity in the initiative will be placing bins in other parts of the County and will donate the profits raised from the sale of donated textiles to the Air Ambulance.

Stamps - End of an Era!

Over the years we have raised tens of thousands of pounds through recycling wastepaper, cardboard, inkjet cartridges, mobile phones, used stamps and even second hand books. The amount of money raised, has made a significant contribution to the development of our air ambulance service.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end, and it is therefore with great regret that I must inform you that for health and safety and fire hazard reasons, we are having to cease recycling at the Marden base, with immediate effect.

This is because our Insurers have advised us that the associated risk of storing recycling materials will necessitate the installation of sophisticated smoke detection and sprinkler systems and a significant increase in our insurance premium that will outweigh any of the profits we can achieve. Additionally, they are concerned about potential fire hazards being stored so closely to a three and half million pound helicopter!
